Teaching Assistant: Mrs Ogborne
Foundation, Years 1 & 2
Littlemoor are a class of 23 children, Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2. Our aim is for everyone to reach their full potential, to show resilience and take risks to challenge our learning. With an open mind set, we can achieve anything!
We have an exciting term coming up based on our theme travel and transport. We have thoroughly enjoyed our first days back at school, where we learnt all about materials, which were absorbent, which were waterproof, whether hard materials were absorbent and how wax can affect other materials. Using this knowledge we created some beautiful wax, watercolour paintings on different modes of transport.
We will be learning about famous explorers from Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus and how the world has change since their adventures. This will open us up to explore how countries across the world are different to our own. Equally, we will be explorers, researching how our music in the UK sounds different to the Caribbean and attempting to play the steel pan drums.
Local artist Brian Pollard, will be our focus artist for the term as we will look at his work and create our own local landscapes with a transport theme.
We will also be learning about famous inventors from the Wright Brothers and Leonardo da Vinci and how transport has change since their inventions. This will allow us to design and create our own moving models.
Additionally, we will be inviting the parents and carers of Littlemoor children into the class to see how we teach phonics and maths in the class and how we can support their learning at home.
We look forward to a fun and creative term ahead and thank you for all your support.
