Welcome to Boasley Cross Primary School: About us
Respectful, Resourceful, Resilient
A creative approach to learning where all pupils can succeed
Boasley Cross Primary School is a thriving cross roads school, which serves the village of Bratton Clovelly and the surrounding area. Our school is set in stunning grounds with a panoramic view of open countryside including the Northern edge of Dartmoor with it’s amazing tors. Although the village is 3 miles away, we have excellent links with our community and strongly value the family atmosphere within our school.
Boasley Cross currently has 37 pupils on roll aged 3 to 11, the majority of whom transition onto Okehampton College. We are excited to announce that in September 2018, our pre-school opened and caters for children from 3 years old. Currently, we employ 8 dedicated staff and are part of the Moorland Hub along with Bridestowe, Lydford, Exbourne, Northlew and Highampton Primary schools. In January 2018 we converted into a multi-academy trust – Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust, which offers wider links, with a total of 14 primary schools and 3 secondary schools and opportunities to share expertise.
Our main school building houses Oketor class, Y3-6. In a separate building, we have Littlemoor class, Pre-School/EYFS/Y1-2. We are proud of our outdoor spaces and approach to outdoor learning. Outside the main school building there is a large playground, a forest school ‘wild learning’ area, a sensory garden, adventure play equipment with willow domes, a small forest area and a large sports field.

We are committed to providing an excellent education for our children and have extremely supportive parents and governors. We are proud of our children’s achievements and the many ways in which they are prepared for the challenges of life and the world around them. When you visit our school, you will meet polite, well-behaved children who take great pride in themselves and our school.
We set very high standards for our children academically but balance this with a broad curriculum that provides many opportunities for enrichment. These may include: RE Trip to Exeter Cathedral and Synagogue, guided Dartmoor hike, visiting author, artist, musician, special themed days and outdoor learning activities. Physical Education is a high priority with children receiving three hours a week in lessons plus daily wake and shake activities. We attend a range of sporting events and tournaments in and around the local area and host our own cross county competition every year in the woodland next to the school.
As an inclusive and welcoming school, we pride ourselves on providing a high quality education for children with a range of needs, abilities and talents. At Boasley Cross, we recognise that all children regardless of background should have equal access to a curriculum which will enable them to reach their full potential. Our priority is to ‘narrow the gap’ for any vulnerable or socially disadvantaged pupils not on track to achieve nationally expected outcomes for their current Key Stage.
If you are considering Boasley Cross as the school for your child/ren, please do not hesitate to get in touch to make an appointment to visit us. We would be delighted to meet you, have a chat and show you around our lovely school!
