At Boasley Cross Primary School we are proud to have pupil representatives that take part in School Council meetings. Each member has been elected in a whole school vote to voice the opinion of the pupils in important decisions.
Boasley Cross Primary School has a School Council member from each year group which meet together every half term to discuss school matters of interest. Our School Council have put forward their ideas on: charities to donate to, how to celebrate World Book Day, peer mediators, librarians, a worry box and ideas for school uniform.
School Council officials are nominated and then voted in by the other pupils – they are not chosen by their teachers.

School Council procedures:
- Elections are held annually.
- The Chair leads the meetings with coaching and modelling if necessary – the longer term idea is that children can do this virtually unaided.
- Throughout the term children will jot down any issues, concerns, worries or ideas etc. that they wish to discuss at the School Council meeting.
- At the meeting the Chair will raise the first item on the agenda and invite the person who wrote it to explain their point of view.
- The Chair then invites the rest of the council to discuss the matter and reach a possible resolution.
- The Chair forwards the outcomes and ideas of the meeting to the Principal.
