Enrichment
At Boasley Cross Primary, we aim to enrich the children’s learning with creative and varied activities in addition to teaching the National Curriculum. The curriculum is enriched through a wide range off-site visits, residential visits, themed days, visitors and practical experiences to enable our children to consolidate their learning through opportunities to apply learnt skills in meaningful situations whenever possible. Contextual learning in this way leads the children to deepen their learning experience and promote mastery of their learning.
We have had the opportunity to visit Exeter Cathedral and Synagogue to deepen understanding on different beliefs and practices in Christianity and Judaism. The children have cooked pancakes, bread and cakes; handled and fed baby ducklings; engaged in peer reading across the year groups; dressed up as Roman soldiers, made roman clay pots and enjoyed many more enriching activities. One of our highlights was a visit from international storyteller and author, Clive Pig. In all of the above learning experiences, the children of Boasley Cross have engaged whole-heartedly!
