Curriculum & Planning
Scheme of work: We are using the White Rose scheme of work. These include full teaching and learning resources with video demonstrations, planning and intent documents, progression of skills, and a full alignment with the National Curriculum.
Long- Term Plans: Our maths long‑term plans set out the full curriculum entitlement for each year group. It provides a clear, sequenced progression of knowledge and skills, ensuring full coverage of the National Curriculum and coherence across the school.
Medium-Term Plans: Ensure math is included in your medium-term plans. Use the long-term plans provided by the music subject lead.
Cross-Curricular Links: Cross-curricular math links enhance learning by applying mathematical concepts to real-world contexts and other subjects, such as measuring in science, calculating distances in Geography, or using ratios in Design Technology. These connections promote engagement, demonstrating the practical relevance of mathematical skills like statistics, geometry, and data handling across the curriculum.
Teaching & Delivery
Weekly Lessons: All children from Reception through to Year 6 will receive one math lesson, one arithmetic and one Mastering number lesson per day. These maths lessons are taught by class teachers.
Resources: Use the White Rose scheme of work for lesson planning, activities, and objective coverage and Magma math as an additional resource for teaching and assessment.
Structure of the lessons: Children should be engaged in the lesson through a mastery-based approach (Anchor Task, Guided Practice, Independent Practice)
